“This complete overhaul to a 1970’s single storey residence overcomes a number of problems created by a wide plan with very little natural light to the centre of the house. The owners initial attraction to the site was inspired by the established palms in the northern rear garden and they envisaged a place of many living and entertaining possibilities within a deluxe resort type atmosphere. The subsequent measures of combing built form with landscape and dividing the house into open and connected living zones creates a series of layered spaces, from the double height entry atrium gallery to the hidden rear oasis. This oasis is the highlight of the house, with a series of indoor/outdoor living spaces containing built in daybeds, dining areas, outdoor showers and a hidden outdoor powder room, all arranged around the swimming pool. Large glass operable doors throughout enable the living spaces to join with this landscape, resulting in a spectacular outdoor lifestyle for all to enjoy.”
